G2 ride – Sunday 13th.
As Neale says, great ride with great group. Once we got over the outbound lumps and onto the flat lanes the pace picked up nicely.
Very nice coffee (thanks John) @ the BoatHouse in Yalding.
Strong gusts of wind made it interesting at times, but overall it was very pleasant out.
The G2 Yalding Marty Pellow ride – AKA The Wet Wet Wet ride.
With some rather contradicting weather forecasts we met at the G.
With different forecasts our collective attire ranged from almost summer gear to almost full on winter gear.
Ably led by Adie, the G2 group of the day consisted of Hamish, Dave B, Martin, Simon H and myself – later met by…[Read more]
Great turnout from Avanti at the Bexley CC Reliability ride.
Rumour has it we had around 30 members, it was certainly an impressive site in the club house and in the car park when embarking on the ride.
With so many riders and others leaving at close intervals we formed quite large groups in the first 5 or so miles, but once the natural split…[Read more]
G2 – Jolly Boys & Girl outing to Tulleys Farm.
With an impressive 20+ G2 riders at the G it was decided to depart in 2-3 groups for safety reasons.
Graham Channon lead the front group with Hamish Brown & Chris Dines leading the last groups to leave the G.
I’m not sure how, but my timing on Sunday morning was terrible, as I didn’t leave home…[Read more]
Revolve24 6 hour
I think my riding buddies have said all that can be said.
Totally agree, an epic event and a great show of numbers and strength across the 4up TTT and 6 hour duo event.
Was a pleasure enjoying a great ride and coffee with my half of the Avanti team.
So many riders complimented us on how fast our trains were moving, but also how…[Read more]
G1 Staplehurst loop with a difference.
The group consisted of myself, Graham, Dave, Gary, Colin and Martin.
Our less than triditional Staplehurst loop took us over and down Well Hill towards Eynesford then onwards to Knatts Valley taking in the now infamous Col Du Knatts 🙂 Taking it steady we descended Exedown and took a left and headed off…[Read more]
With a much appreciated pick up from Simon at 8:30 we headed down to Brighton in good time for our 12:00 race start.
Parking next to our annual racing Comrades (Redhill CC) we secured our spot ready for the arrival of Steve with the newly acquired Avanti gazebo.
Once set-up and with a full team to occupy it we grabbed our race packs and started…[Read more]
Group 1/2 massed at the G ahead of the 7am grande depart.
Already at 18c we knew we were in for a scorcher.
Meeting Steve Rodgers, Chris Moss and Johnny Edwards along Stone Street we headed off at a decent pace.
Now with two separate groups the front group worked well with much thru and off helping keep up the average speed.
In no time we arrived…[Read more]
*****Flanders September Trip Last Call*****
Please can you advise if you’d like to join us before this weekend, as I’ll be meeting Chris to discuss logistics and start making plans next week. Looking likely to stay at Chris’ house in Bruges and possibly only need one car, so costs are looking favourable.
First of all, sorry about my typo in the forum heading.
G1 ride summary.
G1 & G2 met at the G for the published rides. With only Tony and Andrew out of those expected for G2 we decided to merge groups.
The group stayed together on the outbound journey via Otford, Kemsing, Ightam then on via Gracious Lane and Baileys (descent).
After Baileys a…[Read more]
G2 Col De Trevereux loop today.
Firstly, chapeau Chris Dines for turning out for a couple of hours after a 16 hours return journey from you trip last week.
A good group formed at the G and set off for today’s epic hot/lumpy ride.
All riding well and a handily almost empty cafe at 4 Elms made the stop a little smoother than previous visits.
Col De…[Read more]
