There was a decent number for the Saturday ride. Many (including me) were keeping a close eye on the rain situation. After a morning check and it looking like it was clearing, I decided to give it a go. Attendees were John C, Andy Mc, Chris M, Russ, Sefi, Jamie, Julian, Simon V and Ed W (think that’s it). It was just enough to warrant splitting into 2 groups every now and again to keep a safety/passing gap for traffic.
For this ride, we had a pre ride puncture from Andy (chapeau), with Andy letting us know that he’d punctured leaving his house. Whilst he said don’t wait, we did, as it was a good excuse for being a few minutes late. It was quite a nice route, with Bayleys and Markbeech being the feature climbs. It was very muddy in places however. The rain had come overnight and it remained pretty dry, but our mudguards got some pretty good use 🙂 It was a pretty evenly paced group and decent tempo.
Belmondo’s was not as busy as usual, so we enjoyed our coffee’s in a relaxed atmosphere. Chris M wins the prize for the biggest coffee. Having asked for a gigantic cappucino, Chris M was presented with a bowl of coffee. He never did say how much it had cost him, but he seemed happy!
