G4 Hadlow – Sunday 29th Jan

There appears to be a more favorable weather forecast this Sunday, therefore G4 will cycle to the Garden Centre at Hadlow, via Otford, Pilgrims Way, Seal,  Godden Green and Shipbourne, home via Plaxtol. Approx 40 miles at 13 mph (ish). If the weather turns and it is icy we can use main roads on the way out. Denis Moriarty is leading.


With the cafe finally open after a gap of 4 months we can now re-visit the cyclopark at Gravesend. The route out will be going via Eynesford then on past New Ash Green, over Longfield Hill, through Meopham  Sole Street and down to the cyclopark for eleven’s/lunch. Return route via Longfield, Farningham then up to Crockenhill and back to Orpington. 40 miles at approx: 13.5 mph average speed. Run leader: Ian Soper..

G4 – To Oxted

G4 will head out to Oxted on Sunday, via Ide Hill, Hever, and Holland stopping at the usual coffee stop. Home via the bottom of Titsey Hill and Pol Hill. Home around 1.30pm. Pace circa 13mph,  40ish miles Ride Leader – Denis Moriarty

With the opening of the new bridge over the river Medway at Snodland it is now possible to go to Aylesford Priory in under 50 miles. The route goes out through Eynsford, up Knatts valley to West Kingsdown then over Wrotham Hill and follows the Pilgrims Way to Ryarsh, then on the Snodland. G4 will go to the Gravesend cyclopark to sample the delights of the new cafe, which has been taken over by Olympic athlete Kelly Holmes . The route out will be via Eynsford then on past New Ash Green before climbing over the back route to Longfield Hill then through Cobham before following the A2 cycle path to the cyclopark. G4 club run route change – Aylesford priory

As the weather forecast is good I’m suggesting a longer ride to Aylesford priory via the new medway bridge at Peters village near Snodland. Outward route along the Pilgrims way to Wrotham heath and Ryarsh, across the river and along to Aylesford. Return route via East and West Malling. Ride length: 50 miles. Ride speed: 14 mph average. Ride leader : Ian Soper.


As rain is forecast for the afternoon a 40 miler is suggested. Out via Eynesford and over longfield hill. Then on to Cobham before following the A2 cycleparth to the cyclopark for eleven’s at Kelly Holmes new cafe. Return route via Longfield,  up to Crockenhill then back to Orpington. Rider leader: ian Soper. Ride distance: 40 miles. Average speed: 14 mph.

G4 Sunday Ride – Hildenborough

Sunday’s G4 ride will be heading out via Chelsfield and Eynsford before turning south down to Hildenborough for a pit stop at Cafe1809. Return will be via Bough Beech, Ide Hill and the usual climb up Polhill. A relatively short 44 mile ride 2,685 ft of climbing.  Lee Powell leading.    

G4 Avanti – Four Elms

Leaving the G at 9.15am We ride to Knockholt via Watercroft Road, along to Tatsfield and onto the Ridge. After dropping down Tandridge Hill we take a flat route to Edenbridge before coffee at Four Elms. The way  home via Bayleys and Polhill if this suits. Circa 40 miles at 13 – 14 mph Ride Leader Denis Moriarty Route :  

G4 Kelly Holmes at Hildenborough

Looks cold , maybe frosty, so a main road ride to Hildenborough via Polhill, Sevenoaks, River Hill should get us to our destination safely. After refreshments/breakfast we can return through more familiar villages/hills such as Plaxtol,Bat & Ball, Otford, Shoreham,(perhaps Eynsford and Crockenhill) 40 + miles. Usual pace.


G4 will take a ride out into East Kent to visit the cafe in shorne Country park, Just off the A2 between Gravesend and Rochester. Route will depend on the weather, with a main road route if its very cold and a country lane route if possible. Ride leader: Ian Soper. Distance: 40 miles. Average speed: 13 mph.

Cyclopark Training Session

Training session at Cyclopark, has been booked for Saturday 27th October 2018 14:30-16:30. The aim of the session is to introduce and improve cycling skill required for club group rides and time trials. Great session for riders just beginning and/or wanting to improve – practise existing skills. The session will be lead by certified British cycling coaches Lee Staples and Richard Liston.
