With the cafe finally open after a gap of 4 months we can now re-visit the cyclopark at Gravesend. The route out will be going via Eynesford then on past New Ash Green, over Longfield Hill, through Meopham  Sole Street and down to the cyclopark for eleven’s/lunch. Return route via Longfield, Farningham then up to Crockenhill and back to Orpington. 40 miles at approx: 13.5 mph average speed. Run leader: Ian Soper..

SUNDAY 12th: Kent Invicta Grimpeur 100

Just making everyone aware of the West Kent CTC 100km run up and down the hills around Sevenoaks (two circuits). Entry fee £9.00 by 9th March for online entries (easy PayPal) and for more detailed info:   Food and drink available at the start/finish and half-way points – all part of the entry fee.

MONDAY MTB OFF ROAD 10am – 25 miles

Steve and Graham meeting at The Oak 10am for some mountain bike fun. Just pootling out from there and riding as much mud as we can find which takes you into the woods up through Downe, New Addington, Hayes, Keston, Biggin Hill, Pratt’s Bottom and home. G1 Ride to Tulley’s Farm

Marek to lead G1 to Tulley’s Farm – G2 will follow the same route. G1 pace ~17-19mph 27-30kmh Route to be posted but it’s around 60 miles and pretty flat. Please register to let us know you’re attending.

G2 Tulley’s Farm

Steve to lead G2 on the same route as G1 to Tulley’s Farm. You might even fancy trying G1 out and G2 back. G2 pace ~16mph 25-27kmh We won’t be pushing beyond anyone’s capabilities and we’ll stick together all the way. Route to be posted but it’s around 60 miles and pretty flat so. G1 Basted Ride

Richard Bingham leading. 60 miler out to East Peckham and Basted, back via Exedown and Knatts Valley. This will be the same route as G2, except tackled in the opposite direction with a cafe stop at Offham. Route: Please click to register attendance.

G1 Llamas + Steve

60 mile round trip out to see the hard-to-spot llamas at the llama park in the Ashdown Forest. Steve Rodgers to lead G1 – 9am start at The G. If anyone is feeling good by the time we get to Hartfield we might have a go at The Wall! Please click to ensure I get out of bed.

G2 – Llamas + Rich + Heato

Simon Heaton + Richard Short are lined up to lead G2-paced ride(s) out to the Llama park – 60 miles. Not the same fellas that had nationwide fame for wandering onto the train tracks earlier in the week. Same route as G1 –

May Open Day Rides

Sunday 21st May we’ll run another of our club open day events. This will be an open invitation to any friends or family that might like to join us for a club ride and everyone will get free refreshments. G1 Trevereux Hill

4 Elms Lumps n Lanes – lovely hilly route with hidden lanes – the icing on the cake is Trevereux Hill. Refreshment stop in 4 Elms. Route info: 60 miles with lots of hills to break up the G1 pace- plenty chance to test your hill climbing. Steve Rodgers currently lined up to lead.


With the opening of the new bridge over the river Medway at Snodland it is now possible to go to Aylesford Priory in under 50 miles. The route goes out through Eynsford, up Knatts valley to West Kingsdown then over Wrotham Hill and follows the Pilgrims Way to Ryarsh, then on the Snodland. Here we will cross the new bridge to newly created Peters Village, then on through Eccles to the priory for lunch. The – Read more…


G4 will go to the Gravesend cyclopark to sample the delights of the new cafe, which has been taken over by Olympic athlete Kelly Holmes . The route out will be via Eynsford then on past New Ash Green before climbing over the back route to Longfield Hill then through Cobham before following the A2 cycle path to the cyclopark. G4 to Hilden Golf Club. Route via Ide Hill (Back Lane) Wheatsheaf Pub, Penshurst, Leigh, Hildenborough. Refreshments in pleasant garden, return via Shipbourne, Plaxtol, Bat & Ball, Plohill. Ride Leader Dave B.

G4 East Peckham

G4 Hadlow College

G4 will ride a shorter event this week. Hadlow college is about 40 miles in total, with a deviation after the bottom of Plaxtol Hill. The gardens are very enjoyable in this above average cafe.40 total miles at 13+ mph. Dave B your ride leader

G4 club run route change – Aylesford priory

As the weather forecast is good I’m suggesting a longer ride to Aylesford priory via the new medway bridge at Peters village near Snodland. Outward route along the Pilgrims way to Wrotham heath and Ryarsh, across the river and along to Aylesford. Return route via East and West Malling. Ride length: 50 miles. Ride speed: 14 mph average. Ride leader : Ian Soper.

Early Saturday Ride – Alistair Drysdale to lead the 40 miles.

The ride will meet at the G from 7:45 for an 8am start. Please indicate your attendance on the event, to allow best possible planning should numbers be high. The ride is a mixed ability ride, paced to suit the fitness and abilities of the attendees on the day, and ends at Belmondos in Green Street Green for coffee. The Early Saturday ride will tackle the local lanes and finish with a coffee stop at Belmondos, for those wishing to refuel. G4 Avanti – Four Elms

Leaving the G at 9.15am We ride to Knockholt via Watercroft Road, along to Tatsfield and onto the Ridge. After dropping down Tandridge Hill we take a flat route to Edenbridge before coffee at Four Elms. The way  home via Bayleys and Polhill if this suits. G4 Kelly Holmes at Hildenborough

Looks cold , maybe frosty, so a main road ride to Hildenborough via Polhill, Sevenoaks, River Hill should get us to our destination safely. After refreshments/breakfast we can return through more familiar villages/hills such as Plaxtol,Bat & Ball, Otford, Shoreham,(perhaps Eynsford and Crockenhill) 40 + miles. Usual pace.

G4 will take a ride out into East Kent to visit the cafe in shorne Country park, Just off the A2 between Gravesend and Rochester. Route will depend on the weather, with a main road route if its very cold and a country lane route if possible. Ride leader: Ian Soper. Distance: 40 miles. Average speed: 13 mph.

Bad weather Sunday

We all love snow and the forecast is for it to start to melt with balmy single-digit positive temperatures from Saturday. It does mean it’ll still be very cold, wet and slushy/icy on Sunday so it might not be a big turnout. Could be a day to hit the turbo rather than hitting the deck. Please coordinate here or turn up at the G to see who’s up for a ride. Stay warm and safe!

G2 Tulley’s Farm (Probably Damp!)

I will be leading a G2 paced ride to Tulley’s farm and back, using the V3 route: The pace will average between 16-17mph, aiming to be back by 1pm or so. The route is 58miles and mostly rolling, but as this is a Sam Special™ it might vary a bit 😉 Meet at the Royal Oak at 09:00 as usual. Ride leaders this week Chris Moss and Neale Naper.  This weeks route takes out via Cudham, Toys, Heaver, Colmans Hatch before going up Kidds Hill (The Wall) to the top of Ashdown.
