Cyclopark Get Together - Time Trials, Segment Prizes, Coaching and More

About the event:

Created by Chris Dines

The Club is paying for private use of Cyclopark this Saturday, from 3pm to 6pm. Hopefully we will see as many club members participating as possible – or coming along to give encouragement. It’s a session that allows you to be as competitive or sociable as you want, all in the safety of a closed circuit. The Line Up:

  • 15:00 – Track open to all, for warm up or just relaxed riding
  • 15.30 – 7 Lap Individual Time Trial (10 miles). This is part of the Inter Club series, but we would love to see as many GSA members take part as possible. It’s a chance to test yourself, and it really doesn’t matter what bike kit you have. A rider will set off every minute. It will be a busy circuit!
  • 16.45 – subject to numbers competing in the above, “open” track time.
  • 17.15 – a “Sprint 2 Up Time Trial” of just two laps (3 miles) – basically pair up, and go flat out. No trouble finding a partner on the day.

We will be using a new APP to track results and laps, and we hope that as many participants as possible use Strava and “upload” on the day. We are going to be awarding a few prizes for fastest laps and segments – some adjusted for kit, age etc! It’s fun, not overly serious.

Please note that the TT’s will be monitored by British Cycling, so we will make sure all the right protocols are in place. It would be hugely help us if you could confirm attendance – preferably by confirming on this event page. Please also read the detailed plan on THIS LINK (to be added). Note that the club will be paying all race entry costs.

During the afternoon, our club coach, Richard Liston, will be running some coaching sessions on a reserved part of track.

On top of all the above, given the café shuts at 3.30pm, we will be supplying pizza, cakes and refreshments after that. However, you are very welcome to bring your own as well! Cold beers allowed 😊
