G1/2 Sunday ride- Marden

About the event:

Created by Sam

This weeks G1/2 ride will be heading out on the Marden loop into the Kent Weald- a 60 mile loop with a lot more flat than usual.

Meet outside the Royal Oak pub in Green St Green at 08:55 for a 09:00 start.
We will be aiming to be back in Orpington around 1pm, but if you need to be back earlier Sefi is hoping to leave at 08:30 for an alternative ride that will get you back sooner.

The pace of the group will be determined by who turns up- expect a G2 ride with an average pace of 16-17mph, and we will regroup on the hills (only 4!!). If there are enough riders on the day we will split into two groups.

There will be a stop at Brookside garden centre near East Peckham- if you have a small lock please bring it with you as the café is a little distance from where we can leave the bikes.

Obviously bring enough water/ food that you’ll need to get around, as well as a spare inner tube and pump just in case.

See you there!

This is a nice route – thanks for leading, Sam – hope it goes well!
I’m shuttling and supporting my mate from Scotland who’s running the London Marathon on Sunday – otherwise I’d be out. Hopefully back out next Sunday!

Hi Sam. A potential new member (Will) is likely to join you on Sun – for a G2 paced ride!! Would you mind looking out for him? Thanks a lot, Claire

I’ve changed the café stop to Teapot island after Richard’s suggestion. It was on my original shortlist but it looked too small from their website to comfortably cope with our numbers, but after a quick call we are welcome to turn up tomorrow and they regularly have groups of 10-20 turn up.
It should be more scenic than the garden centre, and possible more secure.
