Off Road

We’re not just a road cycling club, as many of our members enjoy riding on the local trails and taking part in both the summer and winter cyclo-cross series.

Cyclo-Cross

Cyclo-Cross consists of a mixture of riding, running and sliding over challenging courses using modified road bikes. It is becoming increasingly popular in the UK and the typical Cyclo-Cross season runs from September to January.

Underneath several layers of mud, you’ll see GS Avanti jerseys in the London & SE Cyclo-Cross league during the winter months (http://www.londonxleague.co.uk).

Some of our members also compete in the London Cyclo-Cross summer series in July and August (http://www.summerseries.co.uk)

Cyclo-Cross is incredibly fun, mucky and a great way to keep fit and improve your bike handling skills during the colder months. If you fancy getting involved then let us know by posting in the forums.

Gravel Riding

With gravel bikes becoming more popular, allowing longer rides to take in road and off-road there are more members that are starting to explore this kind of activity.

More sportives like this are appearing on the calendar.

For tips and guidance on suitable routes – see the guide to exploring off road.

Mountain Biking

Some of the club like to take part in mountain biking – mostly XC. There is a good local series http://www.beastwaymtb.com/.

We used to get involved regularly with http://www.brightonbigdog.com but sadly it is no longer being held.

Bedgebury has excellent facilities.
