Hi everyone

This newsflash is coming to you a little later than usual - I had to take time out yesterday to head up to Lee Valley Velodrome to watch the 6Day racing. Those of you that have been to my place to collect kit will know my other half, Sue, and some may know that she isn't a fan of watching cycling but my enthusiasm has been rubbing off on her. So much so that she jumped at the chance to come with me to watch the track cycling last night. She had a blast! Is till buzzing today from the whole experience. The action comes thick and fast. Last night it was the first of 3 days of the women's omnium - and I was very happy to see fellow Scot Katie Archibald pulverising the opposition in all events - and brilliantly in second place another Scot - Neah Evans! Some more Brits - some fellas called Brad and Mark also made an appearance and the crowd went nuts. I can whole-heartedly recommend this as a night out - the place was sold out and the atmosphere was amazing.

More training at Cyclopark?

Following on from the recent training night we had at Cyclopark, Lee Staples is looking to arrange further training and we may be able to do this next Friday - 4th November.

Please see the website if it's announced and contact Lee on coach@gsavanti.co.uk if you're interested.

An important message about The KK 2017 from Lee Powell:

The 2017 Kentish Killer sportive is being held on the 26th February next year and entries are going on sale at 6pm on Sunday 6th November.

For those of you who don’t know I’ll be managing the event going forward as Chris steps back after 5 successful years at the helm. We’ve already made a fair bit of progress thanks to some great work from Steve Rodgers and Chris Dines, that said we’re still looking to enlist some others to help organise the event so please let us know if you have some time to help out. The areas we’re looking to resource at the moment are marshal coordination, Sector leaders, helping organise inventory and route signs and managing the car park marshals on event day.

The Kentish Killer is a really popular event and usually sell out within the first few days, it attracts riders from across Kent, Surrey and Essex and we have an extensive contact list of over 3,500 riders. This offers a great marketing opportunity for prospective sponsors, I’d really like it is you could all look to help us secure some sponsors. I’ll send out a separate email to you all in the coming days with the kind of benefits companies can receive from sponsoring the event.

For those of you who are new to the club the Kentish Killer is the main fund raising event of the year for Avanti and funds a wide range of club activities as well as raising many £1000s for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service. I’m sure we can continue the good work with your help and make 2017 and great success.  We can be contacted on the following email. kk@gsavanti.co.uk

 Club Rides this Weekend.

We have a full range of rides this weekend, starting with the Saturday morning ride at 8am - which I hope went well, given that I'm writing this after 4pm on Saturday!

Sunday rides - the forecast is dry and mild - much like last weekend - perfect for Autumn riding. Please, please, please remember to click to say you're attending the rides - we always get more people out than click. It's helpful for the ride leaders to know rough numbers expected on the day.

G1/2 - Graham and Sefi will lead a 60 miler out to Lingfield and back - details here.

G3 - Dave B will lead a 55 mile ride to Claygate - details here

G4 - Jenny will lead a 40 mile ride to West Malling - details here.

Club Kit

We've got socks on order - which should be stocked in the RiderHQ shop from early December - just in time for xmas. You have until Monday 31st October to get your orders in for any kit you need for Winter - it will be delivered early December.

We can also get names and/or flags printed onto the kit for £4.80 per name/flag - order kit as usual and get in touch with me to let me know what you want extra.

See the website for access details: https://www.gsavanti.co.uk/membership/club-kit/
