Dear Avanti member,

Le Tour is really providing some great viewing - the peloton has started to hit the mountains - time to hit the hills around here and get a feeling for steep suffering - if that's your thing - and I know a lot of us cyclists enjoy that twisted agony.

The bi-monthly club committee meeting which was scheduled for this Monday - 11th July - has been postponed to Monday 1st August - sorry about the short notice - hope to see lots of you there.

Avanti still in the lead in the inter-club Time Trial Competition!

With a good performance again last night we are still leading the inter-club - great stuff everyone. Unusually - and good for me for a change - we have a TT on a Tuesday - next week. It's the Sundridge course - not too far from home - so let's try to get as many riders out as possible.

We have 9 more time trials before the end of the season including a 2-up time trial at Brands Hatch in early August and a 4-up time trial as the last event in September. It is about the right time to start thinking about teams for both of those - see the TT forum on the website.

Johnny Edwards is doing a great job by maintaining and updating the Time Trial pages in a very nice and clear way. You can find it on the main website under Activities and then click on Time Trials.

Club Kit

The Kalas online shop with the club kit is now again open for one more week. Jerseys, shorts, gillets and skin suits in many variations are available. We have a small stock of arm warmers and caps available for the purchase directly from the club. If you have any questions about the kit, you can contact

Weekend Rides

We are entering the summer season when many members are already on holidays or planning holidays so ride leaders are in a short supply. We would like to encourage those who have been riding with the club but not leading yet to give it a go and to show us all new places, lanes, climbs or cafes. That's the beauty of riding with a club - exploring new places in a good company. Please get in touch -

Saturday - Meet at the Royal Oak for a 40-mile - an 8am departure - but this week we have no organised leader it would seem - please turn up and work out a ride amongst those that attend - or make arrangements on the event on the website.

Sunday G1/G2 - Steve Rodgers leads a 60 mile ride snaking around Knatts Valley and the other side of Sevenoaks. We will meet at 8.45am for a 9am departure. We will ride as a single group at an appropriate pace. If we have the energy we may add some more mountain suffering on the return leg.

Sunday G3 - G3 rides out to Headcorn Airfield. (There's no leader info on the event) Meet at 9am for a 9.15 departure.

Sunday G4 - no route info on the website yet - so please check in advance.

As always, please indicate your attendance on the website to help with planning of rides.

Have a wheelie great weekend!
