Dear Avanti member,

The club open day we held last weekend was a roaring success!

Thanks to everyone that took part - our guests loved it - even if we had some go missing temporarily - and we've even had a new member join us - welcome to Dave Burnage.

Club Social – This Monday 16th May

Please come along to our Club Get Together, where there will be some food and drink laid on. We’ve reserved space at the Queen’s Head in Green st Green (which proved popular for the post KK get together). This is a chance to meet old and new faces,  ask questions of those organising things at the club and generally chat about cycling. We are always looking to try out new things at the club, so come along with new ideas. People interested in joining the club, and finding out more, are also very welcome.

Please RSVP on the event page HERE.

Time Trialling

The club-only TT for members new to Time Trialling went really well! Thanks to everyone for assisting and taking part. Hopefully it's given those that experienced it a taste of why it's so popular - we hope to see you out on the inter-club TTs scoring points for the club - every finisher gets points!

This Saturday we have the Isle of Grain TT - it clashes with the Cyclopark coaching session - so choose your ride wisely. Good luck!

Many new members have been asking about getting involved in Time Trialling - if you have questions - join the forum group here and ask away.

Cyclopark Training Session - Saturday 14th May 12:00

The first Cyclopark coaching session of the year is finally here - this Saturday.
All club members are encouraged to attend these coaching sessions, where we take over Cyclopark for three hours. Note that there will be no Saturday morning club ride.
The focus will be on core cycling technique such as cornering, group riding and leading. These are great sessions, and we get the whole traffic free track to ourselves

Please can you RSVP the event on the Website so we know approximate number.

Not yet confirmed are follow-up sessions at Redbridge Cycle Centre on the Saturday 28th of May and Saturday 25th of June between 12:30-16:30. If Interested in either session please select Yes on the relevant Event page so can be scheduled. If there are enough club members interested.

Tuesday Night Group Rides

We have already re-started Tuesday Night Group Rides led by Lee Staples (the meeting point is the garage at the Green at 19.30). These rides focus on improving technical skills of riding in a group (both bigger and smaller) with additional drills. We usually follow the same route finishing at the same spot where we start around 21.00. Rides have been well attended so far but please indicate your intention under the Events section on the website.

Kit News

The club shop is open until the end of next week - get your orders in for delivery in June.

Details of kit are on the website here:

Last month's order will be with us in 2 weeks and we'll also have a stock of caps and light-weight arm-warmers arriving that you can buy from the club.

We have had several reports of broken zips on the new kit. Kalas have explained that they had a bad batch of zips from their supplier in Italy and have rectified the problem. If you have a broken zip then we will arrange to have it sent back to Kalas to get repaired at no cost. Please take your top along to the social on Monday if possible and contact me on
