Dear Avanti member

We’re looking to support the San Fairy Ann Sportive this year, it’s a really friendly sportive and I really enjoyed it last year. All proceeds are donated to the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance so it would be great to get a good turnout.

It takes place on May Bank holiday Monday and starts in the village of Marden at 9am. The 73 mile route heads east to Charing before turning south to Rye and back up to Marden. In total there’s about 3,500 ft of ascent and it’s perfect for riders of all abilities.

We’re really keen to attract some G4 riders who are keen to try their first sportive, you really don’t need to be a quick rider. We’re going to have 3 groups, you’ll be looking to test your ability with others of a similar level. Groups are below.

Group A – average speed 12-14 mph

Group B – average speed 15-17 mph

Group C – average speed 17mph +

To enter the event you need to follow the British Cycling link below and pay the £17.50 entry charge. The club will be refunding the entry costs for 12 riders, 4 from each of the groups above. Once you’ve entered send a mail to and let me know which of the 3 groups you’ll be riding in. Names will be drawn out of a hat in a couple of weeks and i’ll let you all know if you’ve been lucky. Either way it’s run for a great charity so I hope you can make it.

We’ll look to coordinate travel amongst the group nearer the time should anyone have trouble getting to Marden.

Please post info onto the club forum here:
