Hi reader,

I'm writing this enjoying the penultimate stage of the Vuelta - some brutal climbs coming up to savour. Barring any incidents it looks like Froome should do the Tour+Vuelta double - an amazing achievement - only the 3rd person ever to do so - joining the hall of fame with Anquetil and Hinault. I wonder if he does win will he go onto try the Giro next year to go for 3 consecutive grand tours? Only Merkxx and Hinault have managed that.

Get Well Claire!

Get well soon to Claire Watson who was involved in an unfortunate accident last weekend on a club ride and is resting up with a broken arm. We all hope to see you out on your bike soon.

Circuit of Kent

Tomorrow it's the Circuit of Kent sportive - we've got lots of groups taking part, flying the Avanti colours in one of our most popular local events. There are riders from G1 to G4 taking part and there is entry on the day if you haven't yet signed up.

This will replace the usual club rides this weekend - however those not taking part might want to turn up at The G at the usual time to see if anyone else wants to do a different ride.

Full details here.

Revolve24 - Brands Hatch Weekend - and 4up TTT

Saturday 16th September it's our end of season bonanza at Brands Hatch - we need as many teams as possible out on the day - and it really doesn't matter if it's your first time. We have a 23 point gap to try to catch 7Oaks Tri - every team of 4 that finishes scores 4 points.

Those that have made teams up already - the original deadline was yesterday - you should have email registration info - see the forum for more info:

If you are interested in putting in a last-minute team - please say so on the forum and we'll help you get setup.

We have a few teams for the 6 hour duo relay event on the Sunday too - would be good to see more.

We're also entitled to discount of 10% on entries to the other Revolve24 events that weekend - 24,12 and 6 hour solo and team endurance events. You can race against Jason Kenny!

Info on entering here

Cyclocross Season

CX season 2017-18 started last weekend at Stanmer Park - where Rob+Simon put in a good performance. We have quite a few people interested in taking part this year - remember you will get club support as a competitor. It's a safe environment - if you fall it's muddy and there are no cars. There are riders of all abilities out there - you don't have to be in with a chance of winning to take part.

We have a forum area where we discuss events - come and have a look:

 Full calendar of events here:

Whitstable Weekender

If you don't already know by now we're organising a fully-supported club trip with overnight accommodation to the coast at the end of the month - we need numbers finalised - if you haven't already done so:

You can email Chris chairman@gsavanti.co.uk if you have anything you would like to discuss.

Club Rides

I hope everyone enjoyed this morning's Saturday ride!

As mentioned above, the usual Sunday rides are replaced with the Circuit of Kent - although if you turn up at The G you might find others wanting to form a ride.

Check out the website for details of Tuesday evening group rides with Lee Staples too.

As my Granny used to say to me - have fun but stay safe!
