Hi reader,

With Froome back in the lead of a Grand Tour race, and falling off his bike, it seems just like the last time I was charged with producing the newsletter. Time moves on however, and this production comes to you in a week my toes got cold on an early morning ride. Autumn is coming ! It's a busy month for the club with the events above all taking place in addition to the regular rides. Make sure you're signed up, and up to date with any actions required for the things you want to be/are involved with to help the organisation efforts.

Kentish Killer - Kick Off meeting at 8pm this Monday 4th September.

The KK may be a distant six months away on 25th February 2018, but it's success is reliant on the planning and organising that starts this week. It's a massive logistical exercise to set up and run such a big event, so please ask yourselves how we can help with this year's efforts. For those new to the club, we run a hugely successful sportive out of Brands Hatch each year covering 70 miles across the Kent countryside including 6,700ft of climbing (it earns its name!).  The event raises a significant portion of the club's revenue and allows us to support a range of cycling activities for the members, as well as keeping our membership rates low. We also support a very worthwhile charity in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service - to date we have raised over £30k for them. The meeting is at 8pm at the Chelsfield pub, Orpington BR6 6EY.  The meeting will discuss and look to assign tasks that need support, with particular focus on attracting sponsors to the event.  If you have marketing experience or just spare time over the coming months to help out then your involvement would be very much appreciated.  Please try and attend the kick-off.  If you have any questions please contact Lee Powell (who is organising the event for the second time) on treasurer@gsavanti.co.uk.

Membership Matters - A friendly reminder from your friendly membership secretary

A number of members haven't paid their annual membership subscription, and you may have been sent a friendly email reminding you that they are over a month late ? If so, please can you pay as soon as possible, and then you won't receive anymore friendly reminders ! If you're not sure how to renew then please send an email to: membership@gsavanti.co.uk
Thank-you, your friendly Membership Secretary, Claire.

Winter training

Re the cold toes mentioned earlier, the summer Tuesday rides are now over......Winter Tuesday rides will be commencing shortly. I think they will be just like the summer training rides, but will involve more clothing ! Lee will be posting on the website shortly.

Indoor training this winter. Prior to booking halls for winter indoor training sessions, we will endeavour to poll members to establish who would participate and on what basis -  weekly, bi-weekly or once monthly.  Additionally, an alternative could be a Tri-weekly floodlit session at Cyclopark. Please start to consider what you might wish to be involved in. More to follow in this respect shortly.

A chance of a life time :  Time Trialling on Brands Hatch GP circuit

16th September is the end of season Brands Hatch 4-up.  The event takes place round the full GP circuit, with no traffic to worry us. If you didn't give it a go last year, or you are new to the club this year, it's a great opportunity to try time trailing in a safe environment. Teams will be made up of evenly paced riders, and don't forget every rider contributes to the GSA cause in the Interclub TT competition. It’s an amazing event and teams will be organised in advance so if you are interested please register here.

This weekend's TT

For the early birds, there is the Tunbridge TT tomorrow morning, starting at 7:15am. See here for details. Good luck to all those taking part.

Circuit of Kent Sportive

Online registrations are now closed, but you can sign in on the day if you want to join the Avanti party taking this on. For those already confirmed through the club's group booking, please make sure you make your payments for the entry fee to the club treasurer, per this week's e-mail.

Whiststable

The Whitstable weekender is planned for 30th Sep/1st Oct.  It's one for all levels of riders in the club mixing it together, a great ride with a support vehicle and, to top it all off, a night in a Travelodge.  The club is to subsidise the trip and it should be a lot of fun.  Beers may even be drunk ?  For anyone interested in this event, please look out for the specific e-mail due to reach your inboxes on Sunday.

Revolve 24 Weekend

Some Avanti members are doing a 6 hour time trial at Brands as part of the Revolve 24 event.  Details here.  It’s a team event - you share the riding with a fellow masochist.  It looks like it will be a pretty unique experience and there’ll be plenty going on down at Brands Hatch

 Club shop

Marek will be receiving a delivery of July orders and club jerseys for new members today (Friday). He will take all new stock to Cycles UK in Orpington over the weekend and will notify everyone concerned by email when it is there ready for collection. August orders will be delivered by the end of September. The shop is now open again and will close on 15th September, with September orders to arrive by the end of October. Any questions about the club kit, please email kit@gsvanati.co.uk
