Hi reader,

A twist in the Tour De France yesterday, and suddenly we all know what it's like to be Chris Froome. I'm sure we've all been seventh up a big hill at one time or another. The last time I matched Chris was up Hubbards the other week !

In the Club

Time Trials:

There was no TT fix on Tuesday due to the cancellation of the event. However, the next one is Brands Hatch on Thursday 20th, and is one Avanti are marshalling.

Please consider if you are able to help - Maybe time to see what your “TT Riding / TT Helping ratio” is looking like at the moment ? If you are able to help please indicate on the Helpers event.

The Tuesday group ride:

Lee seems to have a cult following keen to push themselves through this bootcamp on wheels. In summary, it is a mixed ability ride which is either 1-2 of the toughest local mountains ridden as fast as you can or a chain gang loopin up to Halstead and back down. Check the updates on the Racing /Training forum for details each week.

Brighton Big Dog:

The annual Avanti outing to the Big Dog mountain bike race is coming up on Saturday 12th August. At the moment we have 8 riders taking this on. If you are interested it might still be possible to join the party. Check out the event here or comment on the forum here . Also, watch out for new events or forum posts about MTB training rides in the coming weeks. A trip to Bedgebury could be on the cards ?

Sunday:

G1 - Sharing the roads to Chiddingstone with G2. Sign up here

G2 - Sharing the roads to Chiddingstone with G1. Sign up here

G3 - The place holder is there for you to sign up.  Claire Clarke has offered to lead the ride this week, and will post a route asap.

G4 - Ian Soper is leading the ride this week, heading over to the cyclopark. Sign up here

As ever PLEASE indicate on the event if you are attending and download the route to your Garmin - both are a real help to ride leaders.

NOTE: Next weekend G1 & G2 plan to ride a 100 miler to Whitstable. Fish and chips on the beach and an early start will be part of the package.

Dont forget:

The Isle of Wight

Momentum is gathering around this on September 23/24.  The IOW is a great place to ride with some stunning coastal roads, decent climbs and a cycle friendly attitude.  If you are interested check out the event on the site for details. The sooner we know the numbers interested, the easier it will be to organise.

 Club shop

The online shop closes on Saturday 15th July with orders being delivered by Kalas in the second half of August.  If you want to order arm warmers, socks, caps or gloves, you can do it on the RiderHQ website.  Any questions, please email our kit manager Marek on kit@gsavanti.co.uk.

Have a great weekend, enjoy the riding and keep safe.

Nick
