Hi reader

This week's newsletter should get to you just in time before the weekend. The Avanti newsletter team is a little short on time this week - if there are any members out there that would like to help once or twice every couple of months with creating the newsletter - please get in touch.

This weekend - Open Day and Intro Rides

Saturday we have our first Intro Ride. Claire Clarke has been organising this - and I think we have more than twenty! novice riders coming along to join us for a 20 mile ride with cafe stop. Hopefully a great way to get people more comfortable riding for longer distances and with a group. Looks like we have 6+ Avanti helpers - great effort - hope it goes well Claire! This is an often-overlooked area of cycling - we've all been riding week-in week-out for some time and can forget that it's a big step for someone to get out and ride for even 20 miles with a big group. If we can make this a regular event it will be great to see progression into the main club rides.

Sunday it's our first Open Day of the year - we'll have another dozen or more guests joining us for club rides. We'll all be meeting at the G at the usual time and heading off in different directions with staggered gathering at Speedgate cafe. Full event info including routes and ride leaders is on the website - please click to let us know you're joining us.

If you have any friends that would like to join us - point them at the event page above to register.

At this point we have plenty of ride leaders that have stepped up to help out - but sadly we're lacking in G3 ride leaders. G3 paced rides are one of the biggest groups we have and it's important that if you ride regularly that you feel like you can contribute back to the club by helping with ride leading - even if it's once every few months - it'd be great to see more people sharing the responsibility. If you're unsure about what's required or not very confident but think that you would like to get involved - please get in touch and we can prepare you to be guiding rides around the countryside.

The early Saturday ride is still on this weekend as usual.

 Kit

The kit shop has closed for May - the june order should be delivered next week. The club shop will be reopening early June. Any questions - contact Kit Master Marek - kit@gsavanti.co.uk

Time Trials

Unfortunately the weather put paid to the TT plans yesterday, but next Thursday it's the very popular East Peckham course. It's quite a distance out but because it's flat it's popular so get there early if you plan on riding.

See you Sunday!
