Hi reader

Here's this week's news and views...

Club runs

Saturday - Nick will be leading a 40 miler heading out West into the forecast wind with his fingers crossed that it doesn’t change direction for the way back.  Head to the G at 8am if you feel like joining him (and trust his weather strategy).

Sunday G1/G2 – No club ride this week, instead we’ll be doing the Kent Invicta Grimpeur (a hilly 100km setting off from Otford Scout Hut and taking in a number of punchy local favourites).  Confusion reigns as to whether the entries closed yesterday or not.  Check the event on the Avanti site and see who you believe!  If you are coming take a bit of care with your steed as one got liberated from outside the hut last year.

Sunday G3 – Claire C will be leading a 50-60 mile ride from the G at 9:15am.  Route to be added to the event at some point (or made up by Claire on the day!).

Sunday G4 – Details to be decided so keep an eye on the site.

Club Social/KK thank you drinks

The combined social and KK thank you drinks are on the 27th of this month and the venue has been changed to the Queen’s Head, Green St Green (was previously going to be at the Chelsfield pub).  Do come if you can, there will be drinks, a big bowl of pork scratchings, and Marek will be modelling a number of Kalas club kit items throughout the night.

Time Trials

Time Trial season is nearly upon us so watch out for events being posted soon.  After smashing the inter club competition following the fantastic day at Brands Hatch last year it would be great to repeat the achievement this year.  The more triallists we have the better as all finishers contribute to the points.  It’s also something that can be ridden at any level and is very inclusive and friendly so if you are thinking about doing it – do it!

We are also in the process of affiliating GS Avanti with the Kent Cycle Association.  This opens up some longer distance time trials for club members who think riding on their own for hours on end wearing a pointy hat is a good idea (Rob Grunfeld).

RideLondon 100

We’ve applied for a number of teams for this year’s RideLondon 100 on the 30th July.  We’re not guaranteed to get any but will know by the end of this month if.  If we do get teams then we’ll see who’s interested and draw names from a hat/take bribes to see who gets the places.

Club Shop

The club shop is open and has a number of new items for summer so take a look.  As mentioned above you’ll be able to see the kit at the social to help make any final decisions.  Remember also that members get a £25 kit subsidy in from their second year (new members get a free jersey on joining).

Welcome back to Mark Hutcheon who has been a member in the past and has just rejoined the club.

Safe riding this weekend and have fun whatever you are doing.
