Avanti Open Day. Sunday the 13th

This Sunday we are holding our first open day of the year. For those new to Avanti the open days are when the club comes together to ride a variety of routes at different paces (G1/G2/G3/G4), all honing in on the Speedgate Cafe for coffee and cake. The day is for members to showcase all that is good about our club to our guests and prospective new members. Additionally, its a great opportunity to meet and socialise with your fellow members on a larger scale than the regular G rides allow for.
See here for full Open Day details, and to register your intention to ride.
If you feel confident in leading a group, please comment as such on the event detailing the G category that you will lead. This will allow for the best possible organisation in advance. Remember, many hands make light work, and knowing we have sufficient ride leader volunteers is going to make the logistics at the G that much easier on the day.
Beyond that, get yourselves to the G in Club kit, meet and greet our guests and have a good ride. Enjoy the free cake too

The other Weekend Rides.
There will be the regular Saturday ride setting off from the G at 8am.
This week it's heading out to Fordcombe on a hilly route.
Sign up here
If the you can't make the Open Day and the Saturday ride is too early or maybe to long for you, why not head along to the 10 mile Isle of Grain Time Trial at 3pm Saturday afternoon.
Full details here

Into Next Week.

Tuesday15th . The evening rides are proving popular under Lee's supervision.
If you want to come along this week, sign up here.
I was chatting to Neale Napier in the week, who'd taken a few pictures on last Tuesday's ride. One of those pictures appeared to show Lee waving as he rode up to him. It turned out Lee was telling Neale he should have been going back down the hill to do reps instead of taking pictures !

Thursday 17th. Brands Hatch time Trial.
This is a TT Avanti are running, so we need volunteers to marshal. If you can help with this one please use the link here to confirm .
A bit sneaky, but I'm only giving you a handy link to the helpers "event". I'm sure if you're looking to ride it, you'll find your way to the Riders one by yourselves :-)
Remember, over a season if all who ride, help at one TT the club will cover its obligations comfortably.

Back to the future....
The club is pushing ahead with arranging a cycle specific first aid training course for those who expressed an interest through the recent survey. Full details have yet to be established, including finding a suitable venue. If you know of somewhere you think might be suitable for a group of up to 12 please email committee@gsavanti.co.uk

Any Mountain bikers out there ?
Please comment on this Forum item if you fancy a morning on the MTB around Bedgebury on a Saturday morning sometime soon, likely either 20th or 27th May.
If you're thinking of doing the Brighton Big Dog in August maybe this could be the start of your baggy shorts training ?

Club kit
The Club shop will be open until 16th May if you want to get some orders for summer kit in now that the sun has made a few appearances.

Did we all do enough winter training ?

Driving one winter’s day, I spotted my mate chest-high in snow.
I shouted to offer him a lift but he said: “no thanks, I’m on the bike”.

And finally........Non cycling activity in Avanti colours continues.

It was good to see our kit manager Mick Coulton promoting the club on a recent hunting trip !
