Region 9 Criterium Championship

As I was supposed to be working today I was on site for the vet champs I took an hour off to ride. Big mistake punctured warming up changed wheel in time to start. As per usual with these event the top guns, who one never sees at the bread and butter races,turn out and its a different ball game.They hit the front straight from the off and I found myself struggling at the rear, after a desperate few laps I was blown out of the lead pack only to find no bunch to drop back too only ones and twos all struggling in the wind. Then a second puncture and I was allowed a lap to replace my rear wheel. The chief com. put me back a lap down with the biggest of the chasing groups, six of us soon the younger cat. riders decided they wanted to race on their own and the three of us old gits rode on to the finish on our own. Last lap and we had a little truce, as I was at one lap and the Pete Jone was riding out of region and didn't count in the championship did we really need to sprint. As it turned out when we hit the bottom the hill fatigue left us well spaced me in last spot. 11th in the overall placings 5th of five F cats 4th in the regional champs.
