I had a go at the Hever Castle triathlon yesterday(25/09), it was the sprint version ( 400m swim - 20km bike and 4km run) which seemed quite achieveable. They said the water was 16 degrees, so thats not too cold is it? well it did feel pretty cold and after gasping for air, I did a bit of backstroke then breast stroke for the first 200metres before warming up a bit and doing the last 200m crawl. unsurprisingly there was a lot fewer people behind than infront by the time I climbed out. The bike went better apart from cramp and a chain off, I managed to catch and pass quite a few people whilst only a couple overtook. It certainly helped with the pacing having been doing the time trials this year although I did have to hold back a bit cause of the run.
I admit I havent run a single mile in training as i've had some knee troubles, and well I prefer cycling, but it went ok considering. I finished in 1hr 27m and was happy with that. It was only about a third as enjoyable as cycling but still good fun.

Hi Rob I am a new member of the club. I done the Hever Tri last year. I have finished in about 1.30 min. My swimming was the worst bit. Are you planning to do this year as well?

I'm impressed. I hate running to, so it would not be my cup of tea at all. Iron man next ?.

Well done Rob, I'd love to do a Tri but my knees wouldn't stand for the running bit. I used to do a lot of running and competed in quite a few events up to 10K, but my left knee suddenly decided it didn't want to run anymore, which is the reason I went back to cycling.
