Went out for a quick ride today (couldn't spend my whole paternity leave changing nappies) and thought I should mention Kent have been busy resurfacing roads or, more accurately, dumping loose gravel on them. Parts of the road after you've gone through Plaxtol and the bit near Hadlow Hall are a bit of a death trap. Take care if you're out that way and it rains on Sunday.

As an aside, I was told that bikes aren't allowed inside Brookside garden centre although they'd let me off this time. I'd like to say I stormed out in disgust but I had bread pudding on order....

Must admit have not visited Brookside since the new manager lost his cool over Easter when 20 Avanti members brought worthwhile custom to his Garden Centre. Threatening to bolt crop our padlocks is not good Public Relations. There is a very friendly Tea Room in the old part of Yalding Village where San Fairy Ann members sometimes meet. However it is not open on a Sunday. Dave B

I'm sure it's all right to leave them outside still but I've been there a few times on my own before and they didn't have a problem with me taking it inside (I don't carry a lock and somehow a loan bike seems much more vulnerable, especially with those roving gangs of garden centre visiting pensioners around).

Do they still let us chain the bikes up outside Steve? Thanks for the heads up on the gravel.
