Maybe the best idea would be to invest in a trike, fitted with knobbly tyres.   Would also allow you to carry emergency kit.   Thanks for your memories Dave, always a good read.

The idea of using Cross to get a ride in bad weather spark some old memories of how us old gits found ways to keep going in snowy, icy weather. I chickened out today and we got permission to close Hog Hill to the public and I went for a long…

Kentish Killer Konquered

Apologies fior the silly title, but I could not resist !.   This weekend has seen some of the coldest weather seen for quite some time, but its been a deep cold, and frosty, without much Ice.  I had planned to do the Kentish Killer G2 ride some time back, but had been defeated by the weather, so this was an opportunity to try again.

I went out on a 45 mile ride into the country on Saturday, so was reasonably confident that today would be similar, with little ice on the backroads.  …

Recumbent in Antwerp

I have to travel to Antwerp about 4 times a year, acting as a taxi driver for my wife. This is normally over a weekend, leaving me with a free Saturday afternoon to do as I please. Searching the Internet for a possible bike hire, I came across a website where I could hire a recumbent. Now, I’m always looking for something new, and different, so this was right up my street. The bike was on hire from a…

Sundays Off Road ride

Four of us braved the weather to follow the thames river path. Jenny,Glyn, Steve and myself much trepidation at the start after watching Groups of tourest slipping and sliding on the black ice around the Wolfe statue in Greenwich park. We never got as far as Eirth marsh as promised, gave in to the cold and turned back at Trip Cock point and warmed up in the Cafe at the Thames Barrier. 20 miles I add a bit extra on the way home through Castle woods total 30 miles.See More
