DaveB replied to Tony Day's discussion 'Higham Q10/7 17th September'
Hi Rob You must have had a bad day at the office when you wrote your response. Your pessimistic, inaccurate summing up of the Interclub competition would make any politician proud of twisting the facts. We came 2nd behind Sevenoaks (not bottom of…

Hi Tony, Well done on Saturday with your first podium position. While we finished very strongly with 31 points on Saturday, Seven Oaks grabbed the two top spots giving them 19.  Net gain 12 points. We needed more than 12 points to overhaul…

Thanks Dave, you are not alone in being concerned at the pace and poor discipline of the current G2 rides. Several quality riders have shown dismay at the pace which has been allowed to build up over recent months.( 17 mph average over a 70 mile…

RUBBER BOUNCES - I DIDN''T
I wanted to thank Avanti members and friends, including those from Sydenham Wheelers and Sevenoaks-Tri, for their concern and kind words of encouragement with regard to my recent road accident. In addition my heartfelt thanks to Dave Marshal who called the ambulance, secured my bicycle and generally looked after me. How he didn't throw up when confronted with my arm injury, I'll never know.

Two other concerned young people provided blankets and pillows until medical help arrived. Unfortunately they had departed from the campsite before Dave could personally thank them the following day.
The road to recovery is long and slow, ask any other Avanti riders who have travelled down this route. However, I enjoyed a great buzz seeing everyone racing when helping Ian with the time keeping at yesterday's evening ' 10 ' at Cudham Lane.

Today I booked a cycling holiday to Italy - my determination to ' saddle up ' has not diminished.
Many thanks for all your support.
Dave Bettinson

I guess it will take a little while, but you will soon have your stamina back Dave. I'm planning to join the G2 ride tomorrow, probably do half distance as I've not got too many miles in my legs at the moment (still battling these stupid knees). I'll be looking for a guide back home! I'm away for the next TT, but will back for the following one, really getting to enjoy the challenge. All the best - Brian

Well done Bill. I managed a couple of hours on the mountain bike in the snowy fields. Didn't go too hard, just enjoyed the frozen trails before they all turned to mud again.

Sundays Off Road ride

Four of us braved the weather to follow the thames river path. Jenny,Glyn, Steve and myself much trepidation at the start after watching Groups of tourest slipping and sliding on the black ice around the Wolfe statue in Greenwich park. We never got as far as Eirth marsh as promised, gave in to the cold and turned back at Trip Cock point and warmed up in the Cafe at the Thames Barrier. 20 miles I add a bit extra on the way home through Castle woods total 30 miles.See More
