Quite a way, the Marmotte is in the Alps, we will be in the Pyrenee's, ideal for the Etape though ;-)

Nice one Doug, had toyed with getting some "Exposure" lights so that I could continue riding in the evening, but decided to stick with the Turbo in the end. A "no" traffic ride sounds quite inviting after the idiots on the roads…

Great ride in the sun. Bit nippy to start but ended up very pleasant indeed with great company. 98km @ 27.5 ave (sorry got to start thinking that way ;-)) mostly down to Bill and Simon pulling me along, a good Threshold workout!

Sounds like living in the area is going to be a Godsend, at least if I bail I won't be too far from home. Will be sure to carry plenty of my own food methinks, keep my fingers crossed for good weather too.

Needles and Stings

I started back cycling 18 months ago after a lay off of some 30 plus years. “You have a breathing capacity of a 74 year old” the doctor said after a breathing test that came after recovering from a particularly nasty chest infection. “You could try some exercise to improve that”.…

Well done on Thursday evening Brian, your six laps in the chain gang paid dividendsThanks for the good wishes and encouragement Brian, I'm hoping to get onto the turbo very shortly as the poorly leg looks like it's made of blancmange. Nice to see a good turnout at Thursday's Polhill Time Trial, about 28 riders. Fortunately the dreaded traffic lights were removed and the evening was warm with hardly any wind. Hope to see you all at our next event, If you want me to attend as timekeeper, I may need a lift to the venue. The G2 ride is to Newdigate on Sunday 1st August, Steve Riley has the route sheet, trust he does better than me on the return home !! Dave B

Thanks Dave for leading us on Sunday.  shame that we had to cancel the G2 ride, but the predicted conditions were just far too dangerous to be taking out groups of riders.  I have to say that I was not that disappointed that we did not…

Well done Bill. I managed a couple of hours on the mountain bike in the snowy fields. Didn't go too hard, just enjoyed the frozen trails before they all turned to mud again.

Sundays Off Road ride

Four of us braved the weather to follow the thames river path. Jenny,Glyn, Steve and myself much trepidation at the start after watching Groups of tourest slipping and sliding on the black ice around the Wolfe statue in Greenwich park. We never got as far as Eirth marsh as promised, gave in to the cold and turned back at Trip Cock point and warmed up in the Cafe at the Thames Barrier. 20 miles I add a bit extra on the way home through Castle woods total 30 miles.See More
