WEDNESDAY TURBO TRAINING SESSIONS HAVE FINISHED UNTIL NEXT WINTER
During the winter months when
the roads are too icy and the weather too cold, GS Avanti organises
and pays for turbo training sessions attended by a professional
cycling coach. These sessions are completely free to attend for all
our members and very worthwhile.
The sessions are tailored to help riders of all fitness levels achieve their goals, starting with general endurance base training sessions and then progressing to specific interval and threshold training work. Don't worry if that makes no sense - there are question and answer sessions at the start of the sessions and the more experienced riders are able to offer plenty of advice.
The sessions only occur during the winter months and are held at Westcombe Park Rugby Football Club (see map). They start at 8.00pm and finish at 10.00pm every Wednesday. To take part in the sessions you essentially just need your bike, a turbo trainer and a heart rate monitor, but some riders also bring:
- Fans
- Towels
- Front wheel blocks
- Turbo training mats
- Power meters
- Money for a drink in the bar after
