Avanti Ventures into Sportive mode
TheKentish has had to be postponed to the 28th of Rebuary 2010
We have decided to postpone the Kentish Killer Sportive due to the exceptionally severe weather conditions that are now expected to continue right up to 17th January. We are making the announcement now to give entrants the opportunity to re-plan their weekend.
Our first consideration is rider safety and we don’t believe it is appropriate to send off 300 riders in potentially dangerous conditions.
We also had marshalling, catering and insurance issues to consider.
The Kentish Killer, with no changes to organisation or route, will now go ahead on Sunday 28th February 2010 (start time 9am). In advance of that date we will provide detailed guidance on organisation, by email.
Avanti replaces the Ruff Stuff for a winter sportive style challenge for local riders to test their fitness and determination. "The Kentish Killer is born!"
Answering the demands of club & fun riders for a more challenging events during the winter period. Some of our members have been working on a sportive route that has more hills than flat roads, details of the exact route is still being finalised as some of the tough section were deemed not tough enough!
The Distances are to be 65k and a 100k. the distance seems manageable to most on both routes but at the end you would feel as though you have ridden 200k.
England being England in January the weather has to play its part, last year there were snow blizzards on some of the big hills which adds that little extra to a long cycle challenge.
