GS Avanti

Cycling Club

I am a very occasional group 2 rider.  While I enjoy riding with the group, the reason I don't get out very often is that the ride takes up a big chunk of my day and therefore my weekend. This doesn't go down very well at all with my other half, especially given there are three kids to keep happy while I am slogging up and down the North Downs.  Yes, I could turn back early, but that involves knowing where I am going and still means I only just about get back in time for Sunday lunch.

What I do instead is to get up early on a Sunday and do a shorter, faster ride on my own, starting at around 7.30am, back at around 10.30am.  Much easier to get clearance for this!

So, question: is there any appetite amongst other G2 level riders to turn this into a small club run? I tend to do pretty hilly routes (Toys Hill, Ide Hill, Bayleys, etc - as many as I can fit in), of about 3 hours, averaging maybe 14.5 on a good day (faster if its flatter, honest guv...).  It's not every week but I try to get out as often as I can.

Any takers?

Hi Tim,

Sorry to hear that you are not able to make so many G2 rides, but I'm not sure that there are too many of us wanting to get out of bed at 6.00am on a Sunday ( maybe I will be proven wrong)  If you do get the odd pass for a G2 ride, , then that would be great.   The G3 rides are usually getting back around lunchtime (I think) so that could be another option.

Steve - I think you may be right, given the dearth of responses. I agree if it means getting up at 6, that's a big ask  (although Orpingtonians can probably get at least another half an hour of sleep...)

Oh well, the offer remains open.  I shall try and get out for a G2 ride soon.
