Daz and Bill,

just received start list for next Sunday's race. I can drive and room for two more bikes if you fancy a lift ? Early start!

Not sure how fit I am at the moment but will go along and see what happens, see there's some big teams there, sure will also be quick.

Not sure what the course is like, many hills?

Hi Richard.
Thanks for the offer but I will probably drive there as I like to bring spare wheels etc so would be tight for space. I don't think it would be too bad if it was just region 9 teams, but they tend to let teams from other regions ride so all the big guns attend on mass.
Haven't got a clue on the course profile other than it is undulating as described on the race list. I think they list really lumpy races as hilly, so hopefully this will be more managable. It needs to be as I'll be suffering if it isn't :-)
We just need to make sure we ride as a tight unit and all try to make sure we stay out of trouble and in the front half of the pack should anything happen.
It's only about 56 miles but anything could happen and it's sure to be a hot pace.

Will see you there then Bill, early start, lets see how it goes... Get the impression very quickly!

 Cyclist must have wings.

Arm bands, wake boards and river dancing all come to mind.

Well drown rats is an under statement.

Daz and Richard on the line, thanks to helper who lent me his helmet as I forgot mine.

Race reduced by one lap, about 50 miles then. Was raining slightly when we departed and with in one lap we all soaked to the skin, the rain ease slighty for about 5 minutes, but conitued to rain heavily. The roads surface was great, the rain was pooling in most place making each lap more precarious, I tried glasses on and off, which didn't make much difference making visibility an issues on some bends.

Again excellent skills displayed by all, several punchures and one crash who over cooked a sharp bend into the tree's. Richard stayed up front most of the time, I did my usual and was middle'ish moving up when required.  A group of three/four not sure managed to get away on the last lap, we tried to chase it down but the weather certainly didn't help.

With the group away, I moved up with 1 km to go Richard was just infront scabbling for position and has just been squashed going for a gap, the paced then quickened I got the wheel I was after, there was far too many tustling for position, I got blocked and had to check my sprint, a gap then opened and I think I got 4th in the bunch sprint, overall in CAT A I haven't a clue.

Great Fun in the rain, check out the photo's, both of us supporting george michael road crud goaty beards.

Wow. Well done Darren and Richard. Epic racing conditions.

Will done. Great ride and a placing.
Gutted not being able to ride, well done guys.

Started the Old Gits Champs after a brief word with our two young upstarts. The rain didn't give up until half way through the race. As with the Crit. champs the big hitters did a demolision act onces the race was denuetralized, along with most of the older cat. riders I found myself out the back. I paired up with another F cat rider a rode on to the finish as our age group had been desimated by the early pace I thought this might give me a result. We picked up an E cat rider just before the finish so we had a three up sprint which I managed to win. Back at H/Q after a  count back on placing I was give 4th spot in the Fcat champs. 15th out of the 21 finishe. Good to see Avanti guys giving it a go.

Nice one Dave!

A bit of standing water to say the least, very wary on one section downhill under the trees. And could hardly see at times, still have sore eyes!

All in all a good effort, amazed how few crashes compared to a wet race we did last year at Kenardington.

A few attempts to get away failed after a sole rider who had enjoyed an early foray was brought back.  A group of five finally did get a gap to the finish, I blame poor visibility - some very reluctant to chase. A flatter course than I had imagined it might have been but guess it was Essex!

Didn't manage the sprint very well again but Daz did really well and got himself right up there in the run in and on another day could have won it.

Not sure when the next LVRC is but Daz reckons there may be some at Gravesend. Got to be worth a go.

Tuesday 12th/17th July at Gravesend 6.00 pm,Thursday 12th July Hog Hill6.00pm,15th July Ottershaw 11.00am.

Great effort Richard and Daz. Would love to have been with you, but the Marmotte got in the way. While you were getting very wet, I was getting sunburn!

Fitness permitting will definitely be doing some more LVRC this year....nearly C cat!

Full result of Sundays Champs, as you can see Darren did a good ride. Not the best circuit for a bunch sprint especially in the rain, narrow and dark in the woods with a bad road suface on the run in I have always been nervous of bunch sprints hear.

With heavy rain causing a lot of riders to stay away only 74 out 104 riders took to the start line with the race starting in two groups A & B then C & D Trevor Burke breaking away at the start of the A & B’s only to be caught with a lap to go by a group of 5 riders then having the bad luck to puncture twice on the last lap. With Andy Naylor out sprinting Nick Dibble and Damien Foy in the A & B race and in the C & D race a small group of riders broke away towards the end with Patrick Schils out sprinting Simon Williams and Bob Downs.

In the EFGH event the weather took a big toll on riders, as only 28 started in pouring rain from a total entry of 47. Soon after the first lap the race had split into four groups with no let up in the rain, on the last lap the first two groups came together to contest the sprint with Don Parry taking the honour’s in the overhaul result.
