GS Avanti

Cycling Club

Hi,

A quick update!!

For KK2010 we sold 300 places, for KK2011, 550. As of last night, after two days, we have sold an amazing 310 for KK2012. To put that in perspective, it took until mid January to sell that many last time round. We will also be appearing in CW and Cyclosportive shortly to keep the momentum going.

We did a great job last year in making it a fantastic event, and this year we will have a limit increased to 700 riders, with 450 on the Killer 70miler. That route might sell out pretty quickly, so keep marketing to your contacts. All details on the Kentish Killer site.

We will soon be putting plans for helpers together, as we will need the whole club to support this. To aid that process, and avoid mass emailing, we will be using an online registration tool for helpers, so there's no doubt what you can and can't commit to (not to mention that we now have a lot more of you in the club that can help). Ultimately we are reliant on everyone's goodwill, but it's worth it for the funds we can generate for the support of cycling activities as well as the Kent Air Ambulance.

Helper Registration is now set up. Please support all the hard work involved by spending just a couple of minutes to complete the help registration form.

I'll keep you update on here. By all means add thoughts, questions, comments etc.

Regards

Chris

Hi,

We're now appearing in Cyclosport, and they will promote it in their calendar shortly. It's the most active Sportive site. See this link.

Just spotted one of their independent reviews from last year:

Fantastic circuit, great organisation, and the HQ at Brand's Hatch is perfect for an event like this - great food, warm place to change, plenty of friendly faces. One of the best Sportives around, and is starting to become a better event than the Hell of the Ashdown due to the good start/finish facilities

Chris,

I see we're now over 90% booked on the 70 mile long route and 500 confirmed riders. Maybe there's scope to increase the numbers on the Short/Medium routes ? PS any idea why Rider HQ has changed the sort order to random.

Chris M

I admin the site area, and changed the sort order so I could see latest sign ups. Have changed back, so if you refresh it should be OK.

I'd already changed the allowance for the Long Route. The actual numbers are 424 on long and 91 on short/medium, total 515. I think we will probably adjust to have 550 on long and 150 on short medium, though last year's experience was that lots of people start long, finish on medium!

Anyway, fantastic that we should have a 700 strong sell out well before Christmas. The event is really getting established.

Thanks also for completing the helper registration (and thanks to others who have). It will really help with planning and running the admin for the day.

I'm sure the medium and short route will still sellout. We just need to be careful with the timing of feeding the finishers.

My wife's happy to help out at the hall as well. I'm not sure how much help the kids will be though.

It's a sell out. All 700 places sold, though we'll run a reserve list.

We now have at least 54 members, and family who have volunteered to help on the KK, but we are going to need a lot more.  The more people who can help share the load, then the less everybody will have to do.  Its the biggest club event of the year, and we really do need everyones help.  You can sign up on line, but if you don't want to do that, then just send me an e-mail  stephen.127@hotmail.co.uk and I can add you to the list.  I will get in contact with anyone that I have not heard from by e-mail soon.   A big thankyou to everybody who has volunteered so far.

Steve
