Permalink Reply by DaveB on September 18, 2011 at 19:07 Hi Tony,
Well done on Saturday with your first podium position. While we finished very strongly with 31 points on Saturday, Seven Oaks grabbed the two top spots giving them 19. Net gain 12 points. We needed more than 12 points to overhaul them. I will check the totals ASAP and give a more accurate final listings.
On a more positive note, Avanti really went for it this year and turned out in strength and numbers when requested to take on the other two rivals. The whole series has been a monumental success, strong start numbers have helped, with our faster riders contributing enormously. I still think we can win this coveted title, roll on 2012.

For any of those who have not taken part, the Inter-Club series is a great way of getting involved in something competitive, whatever your experience.
Dave, are you working on the club tables?

I'm down to supply the tables for posting this week. There are one or two ' OPEN 'events which also qualified for the championship hence the slight delay. The other delay being a holiday week in Spain, and the Avanti Italy cycling week bonanza enjoyed in the mountains and foothills of the Adriatic. 7 Brits made the journey from Gatwick.....warm sunshine...riding with ex-professional Giani Motta...fantastic food.... FREE wine... more later. Dave Bettinson

| Well its seems like five minutes ago that the competition kicked off in Sundridge and its over all ready! The bad news is despite some great individual performances we came bottom of the pile again. It appears that whilst we can mix it at the top of the table on most events what we clearly lack is the 'bums on saddles' to bolster the points total The totals below are provisonal, however any changes are expected to be minor and won't affect the standings: Well done to Sevenoaks for making it 2 out of 2 and to the Avanti for giving them a run for their money! |

You must have had a bad day at the office when you wrote your response.
Your pessimistic, inaccurate summing up of the Interclub competition would make any politician proud of twisting the facts.
We came 2nd behind Sevenoaks (not bottom of the pack)
We were short by just10%
We certainly lacked volume of riders at the beginning of the series
There were several quality riders who did not put in a showing. Perhaps next year they might be persuaded to help occasionally.
'Bums on saddles' are important, but getting more riders into the top 10 scoring is vital.

Perhaps you misunderstood. The phrase "Inter-club points post taken from the Sydenham website" means that the following posted comments were taken from the Sydenham website and are not my own. The phrase "I'm accepting no responsibility for its' accuracy, we seem to have a clairvoyant in the club:" is self explanatory.
Cheers
