Rode this last night. Much larger field than i was expecting with over 40 finishers.
The majority of the race was controlled by ELV, and it was looking very much like ending in a bunch sprint, but with 5 laps to go it all kicked off with a junior rider from Glendene going on the attack with a few others. I almost went with it, but decided against it as I thought once again it would be relentlessly chased down. However the chase didn't start until 2 laps to go, and i knew it was going to come very close together by the finish. There was now a solo rider up front, followed by another two, then a group of 3 and then the bunch. As we came to the hill for the last time, it was clear that they were just going to stay away. I kicked hard from the bunch at the bottom of the climb and managed to hold on for 2nd in the bunch sprint, which was 8th overall. It had ended up so close at the finish that i saw the winner cross the line as I came over the top of the hill. Another lap and it would have been all back together again.
Will definitely be going back again next week, really love this circuit now, and its great for your fitness
