GS Avanti

Cycling Club

Just entered the Catford Hill Climb (up Yorks Hill) again, and the Bec CC Hill Climb (up White Lane) in the afternoon.  Anyone fancy making up a team? Entries close on 30/9/11.  It's a great, high profile event with bags of atmosphere.  Use the Avanti Hill Climb as practise.

i have entered catford Hill climb.. think i paid too much according to the CTT website say £16.

I phoned up Catford and they said £8. Sent mine off today.

Daniel, I think you should get 3 goes for £16 (3 for the price of 2).  Went out for a little practice this afternoon after a week and a half off the bike.  Went up Fackenden Lane, Exedown and Star Hill and finished off with that nasty little climb from Pratts bottom up to Chelsfield.  Now feeling a bit cream crackered!

Well done Doug - looks like we have a team, any more takers?

Yes Dave, the Avanti hillclimb team!

I scouted Exedown myself this evening. I went up it three times. The first to check it out, the second in anger. Unfortunately just as I was coming to the top I realised I'd stuffed up the auto timing by stopping it instead of starting it, so I went back for a third time. The bike was a led weight by that point so the time shall remain top secret.

Dan, where exactly is the bottom and top? There is a farmers gate about 20 yards before a sign post at the bottom. Is that where it starts? And at the top there are two laybys on the left. Is it the first or second one?

Cheers.

start 250m up by green farmer's gate Doug

finish in 2nd layby

cheers  m !

 "finish in 2nd layby"

That's the second one if you're coming up the hill, right?

Thanks, Michael.

yep Doug !

Edit: Bad info. Scratch that. As you were....

Dave - what's it like being "Grand Old Statesman of the day"?

After our ride today climbing Yorks, Toys and White lane I am feeling my age, thanx for helping with my machanicals.  As for "Grand Old Statesman - I've been called a lot worse than that!
Really enjoyed the ride Dave...It was challenging.

Just seen the Exedown results on the email. Pretty tight around me. 1.4 seconds quicker would have seen me move up three places! And Steve Gale just 1.9 seconds behind me. It's all down to a couple of peddle strokes. Didn't realise Jonathon Harris was just a few seconds behind that as well. Well done!

The results won't copy and paste for me...
