I really need some advice on a serious problem. I have suspected for some time that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs: if the phone rings and I answer, the caller hangs up. She goes out with the girls a lot. I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home, but I usually fall asleep.

Anyway, last night about midnight I hid in the the garage. When she came home she got out of someone's car buttoning her blouse, then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on.

It was at that moment, crouched behind one of the bikes, that I noticed a hairline crack in the left hand crank. Is it possible to buy just the left crank or have I got to buy a whole new chainset?

Dave, the weather must be bad if you have time to sit and write this.   If you have a problem with your equipment, then I'd get it seen to, quickly.  Maybe that's why she is off with another bloke !.  Steve

Dave I had a similar problem some years back. I became so distraught that my work was effected, I was given gardening leave with instructions to sort my self out. They gave me a list of Guidances Councillors who would help me. I was reluctant to go but if I wanted to save my job I had to do as they asked. When I got in the councillors clinic she sat my in a chair and then turned a clockwork egg timer on for half an hour, and asked me to tell her all my problems. I broke down and spilled my heart out to her, the timer went off and the session was over. She said that the session would cost £15 could I pay before I leave. I said, but that didn't answer my question about replacing my left crank. You need a bike mechanic not marriage guidance councillor she said.

In my frutration I found an odd crank, out of a bag of bits I had in my shed (remember any odd bit stashed in a shed, are not of any use that is why they there).I then rode a TT, half way through the event I got cramp which got so server that I had to pack. On close examination of the cranks after the event I found that they where of different lengths.

Dave I hope that solves you little problem.
