Event Description

Details are just out for next year's Spring camp, which Avanti members have been attending for over 20 years.

The camp takes place betwqeen 13th April and 27th April and is based at the Hobby club apartments, Puerto Pollensa.

The camp is very flexible offering a daily rate so you can go for 2 weeks, one week or even only a few days.

The daily rate is £48 single and £38 sharing, and that is for half board with breakfast and dinner taken in the Pollensa park hotel, which is five minutes walk from the apartments.

Flight costs are not included but if you book soon you can get cheaper rates.

For more details look at the camp web site: -

www.pollensacyclingamigos.com

Click on "holidays" and then look at "ciclosol holiday".

or talk to those who have attended in the past, Dave Bettinson, Steve Riley, Bob Graves, Steve Warner or Doug Gray.

last year 11 Avanti riders attended , let's increase that number next year, it's a really good camp and it offers probably our first chance in 2013 to ride in shorts in warm sunshine!

I'll continue my message below here !!. 50 Euros total. To answer Johnny's questions, a) There are a number of cycling groups of different abilities, from fast to very slow. Distances vary, with the faster group generally doing longer distances, and more hills !. Rides are posted usually the day before on a noticeboard by the pool. b) The rides do go as a group, and generally stay together, as it would be easier to get lost. c) there is usually a car that is used for support, but its only one, and not for carrying spare kit really. You would get rescued if there was a big problem. There are stops for lunch etc. d) All rides start/finish finish at the hotel
Its a great week away, and good early season warm up. Great place to ride as well. Steve

I'm going to be on the 2nd week's training camp in Majorca. Dan Hardstone is also going. There is a major sportive on Saturday 27th April, which we are staying out for, and are returning on Sunday 28th. Trevor Madden of Ciclosol holidays lays on a coach, that collects people arriving on the flights at around lunchtime on the Saturday (Flight 3213 from Stansted arrives at 13.30) and then lays on return transport the following Saturday. As we are returning on the Sunday, he is sorting us out special transport at a cost of

If enough people are on each flight, or flights that arrive about the same time, then the organisers lay on free transfers, so last year there were about 8 of us on the gatwick flight, so a mini-bus picked us up and about 5 on the stansted flight.

Groups are roughly the same as ours. the differance is that each day all groups lunch at the same place so you can change groups for the return ride if you want to go faster or slower.

Sometimes there is a car that meets us at the lunch stop but not always.

All rides start and finish at the apartments.

Sounds interesting.  A couple of questions:

How do airport transfers between Majorca airport and the hotel with your bike work (is there something laid on?)

Are the cycling groups under the same prinicple as our GS Avanti club rides i.e. the faster groups take no prisoners.

Is there a broom wagon  (not that I am expecting to need it) for people, kit, food etc?

Are all rides to/from the hotel itself?

Cheers.
